| January, 2012 | Thriller at the Chiller, Columbus, OH, January 2012 – with a blustery start to this competition, our Small but Mighties made the trek to Columbus for this event. Zach had a good meet, in that he learned a couple of valuable lessons – most importantly, don’t listen to the announcer while racing! Keep up the good work Zach! In their combined group, Ellen came in 1st, Andrew 4th, and Mary said she did not wave at the crowd! Joe came in 1st in his division. Good Job Small but Mighties!

| October, 2011 | Cleveland/AmCup2 Speedskating Meet, late October 2011 – Pittsburgh sent a fair sized group of skaters to compete in this combined meet. A highlight for this meet was the competition for the Youth Olympic Games which will be held in Innsbruck, Austria in January, 2012. Qualifying to compete for this was Evan and Amanda. After a very heartfelt battle, Evan came in 2nd, barely missing the opportunity to participate. Ross and Ryan also skated in the B group. In the AmCup A division, skaters John Henry, Cole, and Claude represented our team well, with John Henry highlighting the event by not only winning the 1500m, the 500m, and the Super Final and, ultimately the Men’s A group – Great Job John Henry!!!

Special Thanks must first go out to the organizing group in St. Louis for the wonderful meet, with special recognition to the PSC welcome pad shown here. We love you too!! As a little background information regarding AmCup 1, at this first meet of the season, our US National team is chosen. The top 4 finishers in the men's and ladies A divisions earn automatic positions on the National Team. Coach Jae Su Chun, the National team coach, then has 2 male and 2 female discretionary positions to choose. Big Congratulations go out to John Henry Krueger, who finished 5 th at this meet, for being chosen to skate a discretionary spot at our first World Cup meet being held in Salt Lake City. Good Luck JH! We'll all be gathered ‘round the computers watching your debut on ShorttrackHD.com !! Having said that, our other skaters put on a great show in their season opener! Our lone female A group skater, Lexi, finished the meet in the 11 th spot. Our men's A group also made themselves known with Cole (12 th ), Claude (14 th ), and Evan (23 rd ) working hard all weekend and moving up from last year. On a side note, this meet was filled with current and former World Team and Olympic Team members. Not bad, considering the competition! Our B group skaters were also making their season debuts. Aileen was our top female (4 th ), followed by Amanda (11 th ). Ross made his B group debut and did a great job by finishing in 5 th position.
